The best dramatic haircut for your face shape

When it comes to choosing a fresh and clean haircut, your face shape is one of the most essential factors to consider. You can pick out the prettiest new cut but if it does not work with your face, it isn’t going to look how you imagined. Instead of choosing the latest trend, try choosing a style that suits your face shape as the right cut will expertly frame and balance it.

Round:

Dynamic, layered cuts that create motion work nicely with round faces. You can go for a long, layered cut, an uneven bob, or a short messy pixie. Dramatic asymmetrical cuts, such as long bangs cut diagonally, also work well.

Square:
A cut that shows off the stunning, angled jawline of this face shape will appear spectacular. Anything that hits both above and under the jawline will make it stand out. Go for super-long and smooth cuts, a messy lengthy bob (lob), or a short cut with lots of volume on top.

Oval:

A middle part can highlight your facial symmetry, while bangs of all kinds will intensify your eyes. If you prefer an extra daring look, try a short, pixie cut. For something softer, a long, wavy style will do the trick.

Long:

To make a statement, try the blunt, straight-across bangs many others find difficult to pull off. To keep it softer, go for side-swept bangs. Longer faces also look great with medium-length cuts like voluminous bobs, which, unlike bangs, are super-easy to style.

Heart:

Show off your defined chin and jawline by contrasting it with lots of volume in that area. For example, a bob that hits simply below your chin, or long layers will fantastically frame your face. Bangs also work well with the wider forehead of a heart-shaped face, so try blunt or side-swept.

Diamond:

Let the angles of your face take the middle stage by getting a cut that hits at the chin or shoulders. Layers will seem nice but keeping your hair all one length will make your cheekbones stand out even more. You can add extra drama by tucking some hair at the back of your ear. Super-short cuts, like pixies, also highlight this face shape particularly well.
