How to dry thick hair without a blow dryer

Our hair is at its weakest when wet and drying it with excessive heat right after you step out of the shower can cause dryness and hair fall. But do you have thick hair that you can't imagine drying without a blow dryer? Here is how you can dry your hair without attacking it with heat.

Remove water before getting out of the shower

You can begin the drying process before you even step out of the shower. Gently squeeze as much water from your hair as you can. Then take your fingers and comb through the strands. Fluff your hair so the strands separate. This helps your hair dry faster.

Blot your hair with a microfiber towel

Effective drying begins with the kind of towel you use. Microfiber towels are recognized for their moisture-wicking properties, which means they can soak up a greater amount of water than your normal towel, without you having to wring the life out of your strands. Another plus: It will allow you to avoid unnecessary split ends and breakage from harsh friction. Why spend all that effort coddling your hair in the shower if you are just going to rough it up with a shaggy towel?

Use a microfiber brush

A microfiber brush has microfiber bristles that soak up the extra moisture in your hair. Keep walking the brush through your hair to help get rid of water.

Sit in the sun

Drying your hair directly under the sun is the best way to dry your hair. If you have the time, sit outdoors, or take a stroll as your hair dries up. Make sure to dispose of extra moisture and blot your hair before you walk outside. Shake your hair and fluff it at the roots. This will help it dry faster. But make sure you are not out when it's super-hot as that can also damage your hair!

Comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb

Never use a brush on wet hair. Instead, untangle your hair at the ends, working your way up the roots with a wide-tooth comb. This helps keep frizz down and reduces damage to your wet hair.
