Easy fixes for summer hair problems

Summer is here and that means more fun in the sun – swimming in the beaches and pools, picnics in the park. With summer comes some tough challenges like dry and frizzy hair, or oily hair sticking on the nape. The heat and ultraviolet rays from the sun in summer can cause a lot of damage to your hair. We have some easy fixes to help you protect your hair from the damage of heat, sweat, oil, and the harsh sun rays of summer.

Summertime threat: chlorine in the pools

Consider getting access to clean and filtered water as water containing chlorine, certain metals, and bacteria can cause hair thinning over time. It also causes frizz and can dull out your colour-treated hair.  To combat chlorine, apply a layer of coconut oil or olive oil before you dive into the pool.

Hydrating your hair

Your hair is going to be dehydrated if you spend time under the sun. To avoid this, try using a shampoo and conditioner that promises qualities like strengthening and hydrating.

Say no to heat

Avoid using heat styling tools such as curling iron, dryer etc. as it will dry your hair out even more.

Frizz caused by dry hair

One of the most important protection your hair needs is dryness due to harsh sunlight in summer, which results in frizz. Acting against frizzy hair is an extremely challenging task. Shield your hair from the humidity and use products that will help moisturize your hair.

Split ends

This is the worst thing that can happen to your hair, and once you have split ends, the only way to get rid of them is to trim your hair. To avoid this, keep your hair protected from heat by wearing a hat or a light silk scarf.

Sticky hair

One of the most irritating side effects of summer is the amount of oil buildup in your hair. To avoid oily hair in the summer, use dry shampoo. You can also add an egg and lemon juice to your regular shampoo and rinse your hair three times a week for glossy hair without oil buildup.
